Calendar marketing is a marketing strategy that enables businesses to communicate with consumers through online calendars such as Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, or iOS. The practice occurs when businesses share "add to calendar" buttons across digital channels, allowing consumers to opt into ongoing communications via the calendar, ensuring consumers take action on important promotions.[1]

Calendar Notifications[edit]

Custom calendar notifications are a key component of calendar marketing and enabled by various technologies. These allow businesses to bypass the default 15-minute calendar reminder on consumers’ mobile devices.

With custom calendar notifications, business can control the following:

  1. The exact time a calendar notification appears on consumers’ mobile devices
  2. The message that’s displayed in the notification

For example, a retailer may send customers a calendar notification to remind them of an annual sale. The company can include a unique link for each individual in the notification.
