Syed Abbas Ahsan (سید عباس احسن) is a civil servant of the Police Service of Pakistan, currently working as the Commandant, Punjab Police College, Sihala [1]. He has served in various capacities in the Punjab Police, Islamabad Police, and the National Highways and Motorways Police. Mr. Abbas Ahsan hails from district Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Early Life & Education[edit]


Mr. Abbas Ahsan was born in Charsadda, Pakistan. His father, Syed Ahsan Mukhtar Ashraf, is also a retired civil servant of the Police Service of Pakistan. Abbas attended different schools in various cities including Burn Hall School Abbottabad, St. Mary’s School Peshawar and Cadet College Kohat. Abbas has a BA Degree from Peshawar University and an LL.B. Degree from University of Punjab.  He also obtained his LL.M. in International Protection of Human Rights from American University, Washington College of Law.



Abbas Ahsan started his career as an ASP with the Punjab Police in 1999 and served in Chakwal and Rawalpindi till his promotion. He then moved to Islamabad Police and was appointed as the Superintendent of Police Traffic, Islamabad in November 2004, where he planned and designed the Model Traffic Police, which later came to be known as Islamabad Traffic Police on the pattern of National Highways and Motorway Police.

Abbas served in Islamabad Police till 2011 and then was posted to National Highways and Motorway Police. In motorway police he established the E-Ticketing system for all motorways and highways. From motorway police Abbas Ahsan returned to serve in Punjab Police once more. He was posted as the City Police Officer Rawalpindi from 2018 – 2019 [2] [3] and presently posted as Commandant Punjab Police College, Sihala[4]


Abbas undertook management training at the Civil Services Academy, Lahore, and specialized training at the National Police Academy, Islamabad. He has attended various professional training at national and international levels including at the Elite Police Training School, Bedian, Lahore, United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI), Tokyo, Japan and Akademi Kepolisian, Semarang, Indonesia.


Mr. Abbas Ahsan has published articles on policing issues including current Situation and Issues of Illegal and Harmful Activities in the Field of Information and Communication Technology in Pakistan[5] and Police Reforms: Public Perception and Introspection,
